WHAT IS
TRIATHLON?

TRIATHLON

THREE TIMES THE FUN
OF ANY OTHER SPORT

Triathlon is a sport which combines swimming, cycling and running in one event. Although the sport has been around since the 1920s, its popularity has continued to increase since being included in the Olympics in 2000.

Distances vary for each triathlon, but the general starting point for an adult is an enticer triathlon with a 300m swim, 10km bike and a 2.5km run.

You can do the whole event by yourself, or enter as a team and just complete one part.

There are other related events, like an aquathlon (run/swim/run), duathlon (run/bike/run), and various combinations of these.

WHAT EQUIPMENT
DO I NEED?

To make a start, you will need the following:

BUT WHAT DO I WEAR?

Your can train and race in whatever you are comfortable in, but there are a couple rules - you need your torso covered in a race and you can’t wear clothing that goes past your elbows or knees, except for religious or cultural reasons.

You might want to swim in bathers and put shorts and singlet over the top before your get on your bike. You can also get a tri suit that you wear throughout the whole race. Whatever you choose, comfort is key

Don’t go it alone - share the fun and create a team. Keep the motivation up with the support of a group of friends working towards a common goal.
